TRR 181 Seminar "The Moist Particle-in-Cell (MPIC) method"

The TRR 181 seminar is held every two weeks in the semester and as announced during semester break. The locations of the seminar changes between the three TRR181 locations, but is broadcastet online for all members of the TRR.

The first TRR 181 seminar is held by Prof.David Dritschel, University of St. Andrews on

"The Moist Particle-in-Cell (MPIC) method"

at Jacobs University Bremen, IRC Meeting Room (5th Floor) starting at 9.45 am on Thursday, September 22.

Abstract

An idealised model of moist convection is described wherein small "cloud parcels" are used to represent convective processes, including the fully three-dimensional vorticity dynamics. The model compares well with the UK Meteorological Office - Natural Environment Research Council model (MONC), and offers substantially enhanced resolution without adverse numerical diffusion effects.
