TRR 181 Seminar "Weak vs. strong solvability of problems in fluid mechanics"

The TRR 181 seminar is held every two weeks in the semester and as announced during semester break. The locations of the seminar changes between the three TRR181 locations, but is broadcastet online for all members of the TRR.

The TRR 181 seminar is held by Prof. Eduard Feireisl (Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences) on

Weak vs. strong solvability of problems in fluid mechanics

at Bremen University on March 31 at 1.45 pm. The talk is held during the Winter School "Dynamical Systems and Fluids".

Abstract

We discuss the concept of weak or even measure valued solution in fluid mechanics. We present a simple proof that all these generalized solutions coincide as long as the problem admits a strong solution (weak--strong uniqueness). Then we discuss possible applications to problems of convergence of certain numerical schemes.
