Last weekend some scienticts from our research project "Energy transfers in Atmosphere and Ocean" started on an expedition on research vessel Poseidon. Starting point and end point is Punta Delgada on the Azores.
Our newsletter comes out every three months and includes information about the work done in our project and more.
Our speaker Carsten Eden and PI Dirk Olbers published a new paper in "Ocean Modelling" titled: "A closure for eddy-mean flow effects based on the Rossby wave energy equation".
Our PI Jeff Carpenter published a new paper in the "Journal of Physical Oceanography" titled: "A Physical Interpretation of the Wind-Wave Instability as Interacting Waves".
Our PIs Richard Blender and Gualtiero Badin published a new paper in the journal "Fluids" titled: "Construction of Hamiltonian and Nambu Forms for the Shallow Water Equations".
We just opened our internal call regarding the purchase of home office equipment and student assistant hours for academics with family commitments in the TRR 181! Deadline is June 6, 2017.
Our PI Dirk Olbers and our speaker Carsten Eden published a new paper in the "Journal of Physical Oceanography" titled: "A closure for internal wave-mean flow interaction. Part A: Energy conversion".
Several studies published their findings on the global warming hiatus. Our PI Christian Franzke commented on one of the studies for the "science media center germany".
Last week over 100 scientists from all over the world gathered in Hamburg at the “Haus des Sports” for our third annual workshop on “Energy transfers in Atmosphere and Ocean”.
The European Geophysical Union General Assembly was held in Vienna last week. With over 14.000 attendants it is the largest conference of its kind in Europe. TRR 181 scientists presented their work and collaborated with three other projects in a joint exhibition booth.
