Discussion panel: "Getting back to science - How to return after parental leave?"

Time: Monday, 15 May 2017, 3:00-5:30pm
Venue: CliSAP, room 008, Grindelberg 5, 20144 Hamburg

A parental leave in science leads to many questions: Should I take a family break? How long can I be out of science? Does a break have a negative impact on my scientific career? What should I keep in mind when planning parental leave? Is it necessary to stay in contact with my research group during my family break? What difficulties will I have to cope with after my return? Is there a best practice?

The collaborative research center TRR 181 and the cluster of excellence CliSAP invite you to the panel discussion ?Getting back to science ? How to return after parental leave??. We will introduce you to four researchers with different approaches to having both a family and a scientific career. They will share their strategies to managing their careers during family breaks, what support they received and which obstacles they faced. Subsequently you will have the chance to ask questions and discuss. There will be a small get-together afterwards.

On the panel: Dr. Rula Tabbash, CliSAP Dr. Kerstin Jochumsen, CEN/TRR 181 Dr. Knut Klingbeil, TRR 181 Prof. Dr. Simone Rödder, CEN/WiSo-Faculty
