We are happy to announce that the first outcome of our Art&Science Collaboration ENERGY TRANSFERS will be part of the Artville Festival in Hamburg. The theater play OCEANVIEW SUITE is part of the Digital Art Festival, that usually takes place in Wilhelmsburg, Hamburg.
The mini-symposium, initially scheduled to take place at the SIAM Conference on Mathematics of Planet Earth (MPE20), covering current trends in mathematical geophysical fluid dynamics, was cancelled due to the Corona crisis and therefore moved online. The mini-symposium aimed at reflecting relevant cutting-edge developments in the field and providing a forum for young researchers to communicate their work.
Our Postdoc Knut Klingbeil and PI Hans Burchard published a new paper in the "Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans" titled: "Numerical Study of the Exchange Flow of the Persian Gulf Using an Extended Total Exchange Flow Analysis Framework".
Our PhD Gökce Tuba Masur and PI Marcel Oliver published a new paper in the journal for "Geophysical & Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics" titled: "Optimal balance for rotating shallow water in primitive variables".

On Wednesday, Febuary 26, our first output of the ART&SCIENCE Collaboration with art grad students kicked-off at houseboat "Schute" in Wilhelmsburg, Hamburg. It was great success - for the scientists and for the non-scientists!
Our PI Thomas Jung and Sergey Danilov as well as our postdoc Nikolay Koldunov contributed toa new paper in the "Geophysical Research Letters" titled: "Intensification of the Atlantic Water Supply to the Arctic Ocean Through Fram Strait Induced by Arctic Sea Ice Decline".
From Febuary 4-6 our early career scientists met in Ratzeburg for our annual Winter School. This was the last winter school for this phase.
After the great success of the first COMMODORE Workshop in Paris, the second workshop was organised as the Hamburg COMMODORE Conference during January, 28-31 2020 at MARKK (Das Museum am Rothenbaum – Kulturen und Künste der Welt).
Our PI Dirk Olbers and speaker Carsten Eden published a new paper together with our Postdoc Friederike Pollmann in the "Journal of Physical Oceanography" titled: "On PSI interactions in internal gravity wave fields and the decay of baroclinic tides".
