Celebration Time at the TRR: Graduation Day and Summer Party

On 26 June, the TRR celebrated its first ever Graduation Day! Eight graduates who had successfully defended their doctoral theses in recent weeks and months were honoured by Carsten Eden and Johanna Cordes.

A number of newly qualified PhD holders, who are now continuing their research from France to the USA, also joined the event online. Presented with certificates and flowers, the alumni shared special memories of their time as PhD students, unanimously emphasising that it was, above all, the people at the TRR who made working there so special for them.

The programme was complemented by career talks from two alumni and a principal investigator, who spoke about their professional experiences to date. A wide range of topics was covered, from AI in the day-to-day work of a federal agency to unusual questions asked during job interviews in the wind energy industry. The event was rounded off with musical and other artistic performances. Afterwards, there was an opportunity to raise a glass to our graduates and to chat in a relaxed atmosphere with alumni and current TRR members, despite the 36°(!) temperature outside.

We warmly congratulate our graduates and look forward to the next Graduation Day!
