Expeditions
The ocean cannot only be investigated from home. You also have to go offshore and investigate processes at the place where they are happening. Here you find information and impressions from the TRR 181 expeditions.
Report from expedition M180 SONETT

A key part of the ocean observations in the second phase of TRR181 has been the M180 SONETT Expedition, which stands for Synoptic Observations - a Nested approach to study Energy Transfer & Turbulence in the ocean. The expedition has been recently completed amidst the pandemic on board RV METEOR in South Atlantic Ocean, witth the aim to observe multiple processes that afect energy fluxes in the ocean and the ocean’s exchange with the atmosphere. more ›

Successful Mooring Recovery in the Subtropical Atlantic

In April 2019 a scientific crew on research vessel Poseidon recovered successfully a mooring that was deployed one year ago. In May 2018 a TRR 181 research team supervised by Dr. Maren Walter from University Bremen explored the dispersion of Tidal Energy along a path from the southern Azores. more ›
Investigating Tidal Energy in the Subtropical Atlantic

In July/ August 2017 a TRR 181 research team supervised by Dr. Maren Walter from University Bremen explored the dispersion of Tidal Energy along a path from the southern Azores to the Cap Verde Islands on board of the research vessel Poseidon. more ›
