Seminar: Climate modelling in the age of emulators, GPUs & Python/JAX

Abstract

With the ongoing rapid development of soft- & hardware, climate modelling does not need to rely anymore on legacy Fortran-models run on CPUs.

We will discuss our platform for coupled JAX-based ESMs, its automated optimization of tropical precipitation, and a neural-network based set of coupled SDEs for probabilistic AMOC forecasts.
