Abstract
I will talk about two examples of models of fluid dynamics in which the Lorenz equations appear. In the second part I will demonstrate the rigorous mathematical proof of the birth of the Lorenz attractor in this system. This proof provides the necessary link between the experimental observations and the mathematical theory.
