Workshop on data visualisation with Unity 3D

This workshop will take place on May 6-8, 2024.

Title: Data visualisation with Unity3D
Date: 6-8 May, 2024
Time: 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM (including 1h lunch break)
Lecturer: Sascha Stammer
Location: Bremen. The course is designed to take place in person because this makes it easier for the lecturer to move around the room and help people individually if needed. We will try to facilitate online participation, but I can’t make any promises that it will work.
Credit points: 1.5 CPs

Course description:
This Unity3D workshop is tailored towards real time climate data visualization. This course equips you with essential skills to visualize climate data effectively by following a hands-on project.
Course topics:

  • Unity3D Fundamentals: Navigate the Unity Editor, manipulate game objects, and understand key concepts.
  • Data Acquisition: Learn techniques to gather climate data from various sources, including APIs and databases.
  • Data Processing: Explore methods to process and prepare climate data for visualization.
  • Data Visualization Techniques: Dive into the world of 3D data visualization.
  • Climate Data Visualization: Apply visualization and animation techniques specifically tailored for climate science datasets.
  • Shader Graph: Utilize Shader Graph to create custom visual effects and enhance climate visualizations.
  • Geometry Manipulation: Master techniques for manipulating geometry to represent climate phenomena and terrain.
  • Interactive Interfaces: Design interfaces for users to explore climate data interactively.
  • Advanced Techniques: Explore advanced Unity3D features to enhance your climate visualization projects.

Prerequisites: You don’t need to have any previous knowledge about 3D graphics software. You will need to bring your own laptop.
